Andi Kidd, Community Liaison Officer with the City of Dryden gave us a brief background on the new Youth Centre that now operates at Dryden High School Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

It averages between 30 - 50 young people between the ages of 12 - 18. (Rotary Club of Dryden, Ontario)

She thanked Rotary for its ongoing support that allows the organization to buy recreational and gaming equipment as well as sending some students to national youth conventions and art exhibitions

They are now working on getting a new board together to give the organization direction for the future

She then introduced Steven Patey who says "he grew up " at the Centre and changed his life - he continued his schooling after high school and is now in Yr 2 of a social services program at college

He says he enjoys the various activities that it provided and is now a coordinator for
the organization

Steven then introduced Derrick Harrison who is a regular attendee ...Derrick says
he enjoys using the gym and various gaming activities

He gets to meet his brother who lives with a different parent...as well as many other
friends and is an alternative to drugs and gangs

Thee biggest draw is that it is affordable...it is completely free.

Derrick is also involved in Cadets and has assumed a bit of a leadership role at the
Centre.
