Craig & Heather Murray, local franchise owners of Canadian Tire in Dryden spoke at the clubs September 8th meeting, about the Canadian Tire Jumpstart® Program.

Canadian Tire Jumpstart® is a community-based charitable program that helps kids aged 4-18 in financial need participate in organized sport and recreation. The goal is to get children more active and prevent the incidents of obesity that is now becoming too prevalent in school age children.

National in scope but local in focus, Canadian Tire Jumpstart® delivers support to children through a Canadian-wide network of local partners. In Dryden, the Mayor’s Committee for Children and Youth is the CTC partner. It identifies children in financial need who would benefit from the program.

To date, there are 299 Canadian Tire Jumpstart® chapters/partners in communities across the country. Since its launch in February 2005, Canadian Tire Jumpstart® has helped give more than 225,000 kids in financial need the chance to play.

The benefits of the program include building self esteem in the participants. From a dealer’s standpoint, it allows the dealers to give back to the community in which they operate.
