2016-17 District Governor (DG), Rod Riopel has been a Rotarian since 1996.  Besides having been President of the Kenora Club he has held other positions in the club as well.

Rod shared a brief insight into his President’s training, along with 573 other DGs in San Diego last January. At that session RI President, John Germ unveiled “Rotary Serving Humanity” as the presidential theme for the 2016-17 Rotary Year.

Riopel congratulated us on our strong club; especially the fund raising that we do with Rotary Bingo.

He went on recite the story of how 2015-16 RI President Ravi got warring parties in Sri Lanka to stop fighting for 3 days to allow Rotary to go in and immunize against polio.

Rod sees his role as DG to share ideas and promote the international theme working for the same purpose to serve humanity. He described how there are no such thing as a Rotary police. He said,  “We must try to get all Rotarians to work a little harder and promote what we are doing.”

Riopel closed by listed some of the goals he would like to see in our District.
