Jen Springett is President of the Cloverbelt Local Food Co-op (CLFC) and has been a resident of Dryden for the past few years.

Springett purchased the property formerly owned by Marg Saville’s family and is turning it back into producing agricultural products

Jen provided us with a brief history of the origins of the Co-op. The first study was done back in 2005 and this eventually resulted in a Locavore program. After a further feasibility study in 2011, the idea of an online farmer’s market was born.

By the time it started its first cycle in December 2013, it had 85 members. A little more than six months later, there are 380 members.

The CLFC strives to foster a thriving local food community by:
  • cultivating & facilitating farmer-consumer relationships;
  • promoting the enjoyment of naturally grown, fairly priced, healthy food; and providing education & resources regarding environmentally sensitive agriculture.
