At the April 18th meeting of Dryden Rotary, Steven Patey, Megan Pinette , Leon Oombash , and Kale Greer from Dryden Youth Centre, (DYC) made a PowerPoint presentation of their trip to the National Youth Centre conference in Ottawa.

The theme of the conference, described as a "conference for youth about youth", was "Unite and Ignite". 


Dryden Youth Unite & Ignite ConferenceWith the financial assistance of the club, they all spent four days studying topics such as Youth Homelessness, Youth Mental Health, Drugs and Alcohol and more.


Participants were introduced to the Young Decision Maker Model generated by youth, young adults and adult allies as a tool to encourage youth to become decision makers.The process took them from gathering knowledge and information, to making decisions and action planning. 


All were was encouraged to return to their communities with the knowledge and the tools to act locally.


Each of the DYC reps thanked Rotary for their support of this great leadership conference and presented President Rena Madden with a framed picture of them taken while in Ottawa.
