The Thanksgiving Turkey Shoot is an annual Rotary Fundraiser designed to raise funds in support of Rotary Youth projects.
A Turkey Shoot card is divided into 22 sections, each of which costs $2.50 to buy. One winner from each card gets a 15 to 20 lb turkey from the IGA store in Dryden. This year’s organizer, Rotarian Willie Cheslock hopes to raise more than $3000.00 for the cause.
Selecting the winners might have been the toughest challenge for Willie as Rotarians took turns throwing darts at a complete wall of turkey cards. The term “random selection” reached a new level as it became evident hardly anyone could even come close to hitting what they were aiming at.
One collateral benefactor of the Turkey Shoot was the Dryden Food Bank receiving seven turkeys as a number of good hearted people simply wrote the” Dryden Food Bank” on their selection.
