Rtn Roger Gould provided us with his vocational talk. Roger was born in Winnipeg....and was expected to be a girl...and his parents were so disappointed , they left him in hospital for two weeks!!!!

The family moved to Dryden in 1964 and
purchased Johnson Electric which was located at the same site as where Gould's is now located.

At a young age, Roger worked in the family business...first sweeping the floors as a 6 year old , and later in more responsible positions.

After finishing school , Roger worked for Les Barrett for 4 years , selling RVs in the
summer...and working in the licence office in the winter.

In 1983, he went back to the family business and worked there until 1993. During this time , he met his future wife - Renee..and they were married in 1990

In 1993 , Roger moved over to Kurz Home Centre and worked there until
approached by CFIB ( Canadian Federation of Independent Business) whom he
joined .

It was at this time as well that their son was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular
dystrophy. While it would have been easy to move to a larger centre to get better
medical care , the Goulds stayed here because of the tremendous support of family
and community.

After 9/11 , many of his CFIB members were having insurance issues as costs
seemed to be skyrocketing. This tweaked Roger's interest in insurance and after
many overtures , he joined Gillon's Insurance from Fort Frances in 2004. The
following years has seen many courses taken.

In 2008, Gillon's opened their office in Dryden where Roger is their Commercial
Account Executive.

Roger brought a jacket and mug to be raffled off.
