Fundraiser to help build a school in Guatemala

Posted by Jon Thompson

When there's no school in a community and no money to build one, there's only one way to get there: brick by brick.

Schools Building Schools has reached out to 11 local businesses for the Buy a Brick program, a $2 contribution toward a $50,000 school to be built in rural Guatemala.

"Getting all the businesses involved would really get the community involved as well. Maybe by doing this fundraiser people will be more aware of Schools Building Schools and what we are trying to do," said Danielle Toth, the president of the St. Thomas Aquinas High School chapter of the regional effort.

The paper bricks designed by students will be available until the end of the month, at which point they will be posted in the foyer of St. Thomas Aquinas in the shape of a school to represent the funds raised
