New members to Rotary Clubs at some point do a talk on their life with a focus on their career. We call this, their “vocational” talk. Normally members give some thought to this and some are even a little anxious in the process. But not our new member Sally Sipos!

When the speaker scheduled for the September 3rd. meeting didn’t appear Sally agreed, on the spur of the moment, to move up her vocational talk from September 24th..

Sally was born in Northern Ontario to Steve and Mary Sipos and lived in Ignace, ON until Gr 8 when her family moved to Dryden where she finished her schooling.

Sipos is a “single” mother of 4 children, all of whom are presently in university. Plus she has a dog that has just successfully come through some surgery.

She has also recently purchased a lot in the Highlands Subdivision and may soon be a neighbour of Rtn. Istvan K.

Career wise, Sipos is currently the Comptroller with Domtar. She has spent all or her working life at the Mill meaning she has lived through 5 different name changes or mill owners/operators.

Sipos first started out in Forestlands but has been in the Pulp mill for the last 5 years taking over after the passing of Rtn Ian Nixon.

She loves to travel and has been involved with Habitat for Humanity on 4 different builds in Central America and is going on a fifth again soon. She is hoping to go as a leader after taking the leadership course this fall.

Sally is also involved with the local Red Cross disaster committee.
