Dryden's new United Church minister Scott Gale was welcomed into his new ministry position on August 28th of this past year. Gale actually arrived with a Paul Harris Fellow, awarded in 2004 for his outstanding work in the community of Thunder Bay.

Scott Gale graduated from McMaster University with a Political Science degree and worked at Queens Park for a couple of years, however, in 1985, he realized that life close to politics was not his cup of tea and he entered the seminary.

In 1990, he was assinged to Thunder Bay, where he was attached to St. Patrick and St. Ignatius High schools.

Three years later, (1993 )he was ordained into the priesthood becoming assistant pastor at St. Dominc's as well as the Pastor to the Lake Superior regiment stationed in Thunder Bay.

Scott Gale at Dryden UnitedBy 1995 he had transferred to Red Lake and St Xavier church and a couple of First Nation communities. This was followed by seven  years (1997 - 2004 )at St Andrew's in Thunder Bay. This is also where, in 2004, Gale was awarded a PHF for his work in the community.

After a controversial sermon in support of same sex-marriage, in 2004 he was transferred to the church in Marathon where he ministered until his differences over a number of issues including a lack of ordination of women  and rules on celibacy motivated Gale to leave the Catholic church. By 2007 he had gone back to school and was admitted to the United Church Ministry stream.

On March 29, 2011 Scoot Gale was admitted to ministry in United Church and began his work in Dryden in June 2011.  He is living in the former Humphrey home on Orvis St.

Scott closed his talk by listing a number of duties as a Minister at First United and.stressed the fact that he does work more than that just the one hour on Sunday.
