Host Families Sought for Maela Cataldi

Maela, who is 17, lives in Chambery, France near the Swiss border. Maela's father is a lawyer and her mother works for the Government. Her older sister Laura was a Rotary Exchange Student two years ago in the United States. Maela wants to come to Canada to "meet new people, discover new values, a new way of life and a new culture."

Maela loves children and babysits and takes care of kids at a summer camp. She says, "I hope to have host brothers and host sisters in my host families." Maela loves sports, especially rock climbing, Karate and Thai do, plus water sports like swimming, surfing and skimboarding. One of her goals is to try new sports while she is in Canada.

Maela will arrive in Dryden on August 21, 2010 and stay with us until July 2011. Maela wrote in a recent email, "With my mum we bought the plane ticket for me !!!!!!!! I will arrive in 126 days !!!! I'm really really excited."

Consider welcoming Maela into your home for 2 - 3 months while she lives in Dryden.
You will be giving her the unique opportunity to learn about Canadian family life.
And, your family will be talking for years about what a wonderful experience it was to have had Maela living with you, (and how much you miss her!). Ask Janet for details of the program and how you can participate.

** Rotary International has mandated a policy for the protection of vulnerable people, therefore, all Rotarians (and spouses) who host Rotary Exchange Students in their homes and other Rotarians who invite the student for overnight visits or away for weekends, must first provide evidence of a criminal record check to the Club Harassment Officer. Joanne Misner has information on the policy and record check forms.
** This policy will take effect for the Youth Exchange Program on June 1, 2010.
