This disaster is proving to be massively destructive and the reports on lost lives and homes are increasing by the day. The latest report is that over 3,000 people have lost their lives. It is also reported that nearly 2 million people are without shelter.
ShelterBox Canada already has 2 teams on the ground along with about 1,700 boxes & tents that are already in country or nearby and are being distributed to those in need. Ron Noseworthy, chair of ShelterBox Canada and a Kenora Rotarian is now in the Philippines leading one of the nine response teams.
The ShelterBox is a simple and effective solution in disaster response. It delivers the essentials a family needs to survive in the aftermath of a disaster.
For every dollar donated by individuals to ShelterBox Canada the government of Canada will set aside one dollar for the Typhoon Haiyan Relief Fund – effectively doubling your contribution.
