Marilyn Tinkess of the Second Chance Pet Network (SCPN) was present to give us an update on the SCPN's shelter drive at our August 1st, 2012 meeting.

The  SCPN is a not for profit organization that relies on the generous donations from the citizens of Dryden and surrounding area. Donations are graciously accepted, with charitable receipts provided for all cash donations of $20 or more. Second Chance Pet Network is a registered charity, #85116 7858 RR0001.

Marilyn Tinkess & SCPN shelterSince 2009, they have adopted out 356 of 430 cats and 114 of 129 dogs that have been turned in.

They also catch and spey feral cats and then return them to seven different colonies.

After getting a Pepsi grant, they started construction on a permanent shelter located on Wilson Road behind the Mill.  However, they still need another $100,000 to complete the 5400 square foot building.

Present funds come from their storefront business on King Street that is an ongoing garage sale as well as from the recycling of used electronics and batteries so if you have any of these used items in your basement, bring them to SCPN.

Volunteers are always needed. The Rotary Club of Dryden also presented donated a cheque for$1000.00 to Mayilyn before she left.
