Dryden Rotary Charity Foundation doles out another $101,425.00 to local community organizations
The Dryden Regional Health Centre (DRHC) is one step closer to raising half the funds needed to purchase a new Digital X-Ray machine for Dryden and Area. With the current x-Ray machine nearing the end of its life span in 2023 the hospital foundation has the time to raise the remainder of $700,000 needed for the new machine. With just over $300,000 raised to date the DRCF’s $35,000 brings them almost half-way to their final goal.
The region's youth were the biggest group to receive grants. Scholarships to youth at Dryden, Red Lake and Ignace High schools totalled $10,000, Rotary Youth Programs like Rotary Youth Leadership Awards and Adventures in series (Agriculture, Human Rights, Citizenship) got $2,500. A program involving Dryden’s Figure Skating Club received $25,000. Perhaps the most original youth grant went to the Dryden Gymnastics Club who received $4,500.00 for a Parkour system. Rounding out the Winter 2021 recipients were the Dryden Ski Club, $3,700 for signage on both the downhill and cross-country trails and $7,500 for the Tamarack House, a cancer residence for out-of-town patients or their family when at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Centre.
With these grants, The Dryden Rotary Charity Foundation has now given back over $2,000,000 to our communities from the proceeds of Dryden Rotary Radio Bingo.
