The Rotary Club of Dryden grew by four members at the November 23rd meeting when Ed and Susan Reany Iskra, Scott Gale and Jack McMaster were inducted into the club.
During the induction ceremoney it was learned that
both McMaster and Gale were graduates of McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. As well Susan is the daughter of former Rotarian Charlie Reany and that Ed is a classmate of Rtn Willie Chestlock, both of whom graduated in Forestry from Lakehead University.
I addition to the inductions, Lynn Carslon who is retiring and moving to Kenora was presented with a small gift. It seemed fitting, what with December and the theme of family approaching that Lynn attended with her grandson in tow.
The club also considered a motion put forth by the Dryden Rotary Charity Foundation board of directors to approve $9,500.00 in grants to Ignace Christmas Cheer , Teens in Motion of Ignace, the Dryden Conservation Camp, the Hope in the City campaign and to Dryden Youth soccer.
Finally, President Rena Madden presented Rtn John Borst with two awards garnered at the District 5550 Conference this past June. The first was for "best website" by a medium sized club and the second was an award for our International Literacy initiative lead by former Rotarian Suzanne Borst for the Mothers of Intention, a literacy program of the Amarok Society in Bangladesh.
